Brady Steward | about the artist:
Brady Steward has been a glass artist for over 20 years. He studied under Jon Clark, professor at Tyler School of Art, and Gene Koss, professor at Tulane University; where Brady earned his Masters degree in Fine Arts.
Brady has lived most of his life in New Orleans; the source for his inspiration. He has also lived in New York City, Philadelphia, Houston, Austin, Baton Rouge , Wyoming and now live in San Antonio Texas. His life experiences have shaped his art, work technique and the theme being his glass creations which reflect, science, religion, psychology and biology. His work is fluid in nature, depicted in both the human anatomy and in animal form. His signature "Water Child" series is evidence to this technique.
Brady's work techniques include sculpture molds and cast glass, free form and spontaneous blown glass. His inspirations include geological evolution, notions of consciousness, fluidity and dark psychology; the "corridor of the ill." As shown in the Water Child collection, he takes inspiration from the human internal systems and how it along with the physical environment can influence one's thoughts.
Shown in a majority of his work, Brady takes inspiration from the sickened mind and consciousness, especially as a result of medications and their side effects; as medication is not a natural byproduct from our bodies but introduced.
Brady currently resides in San Antonio, Texas, where he continues to create new and innovative glass designs. He works regularly in his New Orleans studio.
Free programs, lectures and live demonstrations are available. His collection is available for show use. Contact Brady for more information and to schedule.
